Enjoy An Ever-Present God

“Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence? If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there! If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me.” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭139:7-10‬ ‭ESV‬‬

I awoke in India the morning of this writing keenly aware that God is truly with us.

We have a tendency to want to redeem everything for God and His purpose. Going to a movie with your child? Better make a lesson out of it! Relaxing with a spouse or acquaintance? Better share what God is doing or consider it “refueling” from His work! Doing a little sightseeing on a mission trip? Better give it to God for a spiritual purpose!

My friends, these are wonderful things, but wherever you go, He is already there! Whatever you are doing He ALREADY HAS His purpose for it, you don’t have to invent it. Whatever you want to give to God, He is actually giving it to YOU! Has He not made your eyes, ears, and mind out of His Love for you and want you to use them for enjoyment of His gifts? Has He not put man’s gifts to work to display His wonder within us through man’s temporal achievement?

Whatever you try to redeem for God, He already owns and is giving for you.

Maybe instead of trying to redeem everything for Him, we should walk through everything with gratitude as we enjoy the good gifts of a loving Father. Our receiving His kindness to us, not turning everything into a spiritual purpose, is His very design for our Life. Walk with Him, enjoy Him, thank Him, and celebrate His goodness!

He did not make the sunset so that He could look good (though it certainly puts us in awe of Him!). He has made something even more wonderful of YOU! Instead, He is the Giver of all good gifts, not the One needing anything that you should give it to Him!

Our worship isn’t giving everything to God, but presenting ourselves to Him to lead and to move and to express Himself through. And what does He do when we present ourselves to Him?  He loves us more than we could ever hope or imagine.

Enjoy Him enjoying you today as you walk in the confidence that He will accomplish His purposes as you relax and abide in Him along the way.

Question: “What will you walk into differently today knowing He is already with you, already working toward all He desires for you?” Share your thoughts in the comments below!
