More about Mike…

Before I ever moved into ministerial work, I worked developing and delivering leadership training, and executive coaching for some of the most impactful organizations in the country in multiple industries – from private banks and hospital chains to bleeding-edge technology and university leadership training and from retail giants to communications firms.

(Incl. American Mgt. Association, AT&T, IBM, Walmart, Inc., Columbia Hospitals, 1st Tennessee Bank, Sprint, Chase Bank, Baptist Convention of Florida, VDG/WorldWide Visioneering, Hitachi, )

When I moved into full-time ministry in 2001, I saw a disconnect between sound leadership and authentic discipleship, and eventually developed. Grace Life Coaching: a leadership and discipleship flow through a process called “grace boarding” (think biblically sound principles of grace and identity at the heart of whiteboard strategic planning). For several years as a speaker and pastor, I continued to coach a handful of pastors and Christian leaders.

Today, I can take on very few coaching clients who are ready to invest in a process of self-evaluation, biblical clarity, vision and strategy development, prayer, and discipleship through “Grace Boarding” to achieve personal and professional goals as they grow in their walk with God and as a whole, healthy person in all their roles and relationships. These coaching clients have mostly been pastors or Christian men and women who are mid-size company executives and want Christ at the center of their agenda for their company church who need to avoid blindspots in their personal development and leadership, but also include people in career transition, flat-lining relationships, stagnant spiritual experiences, or even those thriving who want to move to a deeper new level of engaging with God and a new level of participating in His purposes. Most want more authenticity, clarity, and impact with God, work, home, health, and more. None are in disfunction – that needs a counselor. All have goals and obstacles – they need a coach.

Whether teaching grace more effectively or growing spiritually, whether understanding our own values and obstacles or untangling hurtful relationships, coaching is the communal process of navigating murky steps toward increasingly clear outcomes. It’s a wonderful and practical discipleship tool. It is Life-on-Life, relational, fluid, yet structured process of growing together toward one person’s specific goals in each area of their life.

A Few of Mike’s Favorites

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. – 2 Corinthians 12:9

I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. – Galatians 2:20

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!
– 2 Corinthians 5:17

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
– John 14:6
